PERSPECTIVES OF DEAL P.O.D
Why is it important to keep the learning going? As the old saying goes, “If you don’t use it, you lose it.” And over the summer, students from every year group stop actively learning, losing a good bit of what they’ve absorbed during the school year Research indicates 2 months of reading skills and 2 1/2 months of maths skills are lost over a single summer. Plus, summer slide is cumulative, so those lost months add up over time. Combined over the years, by the time a student reaches year 8, they’ve lost the equivalent of 2 years of learning to summer slide, the loss is greater the older the student gets.

Passion for learning Winston Churchill said, “Personally I’m always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught”. This is how most of us see learning and development. As parents we should encourage our children to learn from the world around us. The project should not be seen as taking time away from family time, rather it should be an opportunity to learn together.
