Education/CRCE Activities Scoring Need at least 15 points to achieve excellence How many total credits have you offered in the past year? Include all credits (traditional and non-traditional). 0 to 15 credits 1 point 16 to 30 credits 2 points 31 to 45 credits 3 points 46 to 60 credits 4 points 61 to 75 credits 5 points > 75 credits 6 points Number of credits for the year/number of members in state x100 to 2 1 point 2.1 to 3 2 points 3.1 to 4 3 points 4.1 to 5 4 points 5.1 to 6 5 points > 6.1 6 points

Legislative Activities Scoring Need a total of 10 points to achieve excellence Legislative Committee as one of your affiliate committees PACT participation A fully represented and active 435 team for your state Employment of a lobbyist Activities to engage members in legislative activities like a booth at your state convention to promote a letter writing campaign to support legislature Action on your licensure bill to either protect or expand it Active licensure board activities Meetings with congressional representatives either on the state or national levels.

Legislative Activities Scoring You will receive points for each activity that you have participated in as follows: Legislative Committee 2 points PACT participation 2 points Employment of Lobbyist 2 points Fully represented and active 435 team 2 points Activities to engage the membership in legislative activities 1 point for each activity Activities to defend or expand licensure bill 5 points Meetings with congressional representatives 2 points each

Promoting Public Awareness Scoring Need a total of 15 points to achieve excellence Public relations can play a very important role in an association like the American Association for Respiratory Care. It can contribute to influencing local, state and national government officials on legislation the AARC supports, and it can improve the overall image of the Association's members and the respiratory therapy profession

Promoting Public Awareness Scoring A public relations team as one of your affiliate committees Special event such as: COPD Awareness Day, Lung Health day, Drive4COPD Open Houses 10K runs Free early screenings Public Service Announcements (PSAs) Advocacy events Smoking prevention or lung health to children Asthma camps Asthma awareness to school teachers OpEds Occupational health screenings Pulmonary self-care programs

Promoting Public Awareness Scoring You will receive points for each activity that you have participated in as follows: 10K runs, tennis, or golf tournaments or other sporting events- 2 points Putting words to paper: press releases, Media Alerts, Pitch Letters, and Op-eds 2 points Open Houses for prospective RCPs- 2 points Quarterly activities to promote the RC profession- 2 points Activities to engage the membership in public awareness 1 point for each activity Special Events with screening opportunities for public- 5 points Speaking engagements, lectures, and briefings on a RC Topic 2 points each Public Awareness committee on affiliate Board 1 point

Promoting Public Awareness: TIPS Public relations/health promotions committee on affiliate board Public health screenings/health fairs Community outreach activities-volunteerism PTA meetings, school career days, open houses, high school health career clubs 10K runs, teams at health related walk/runs, 5K vent run Floats in Holiday parades Respiratory Care Week proclamation with press release Participate with asthma camps Drive4COPD Adopt-a-company Senior Center Events – health screenings Peak Performance USA

Benefits to Membership Scoring This section has a possibility of 20 points. A total of 15 points is needed to achieve excellence. Benefits to Membership Scoring Does your state affiliate offer logo ware (i.e. pins, t-shirts, sweat shirts coffee cups etc.) to your members? 3 points Does your state affiliate sponsor membership get-togethers such as golf tournaments, social events etc.. where members have the opportunity to meet each other? 2 points Offer discounted fees for Affiliate sponsored conferences? 2 points Offer chapter, district or other regional meetings, educational offerings or other membership activities? 2 points

Benefits to Membership: TIPS Logo items at all meetings Member activities: picnics, bowling nights, theater nights, golf tournaments, attend ALA Oxygen Balls Member discount at meetings PACT chairs invite members in districts to join the meetings with state representatives

Collaboration with other health care organizations Scoring Need a total of 4 points to achieve excellence Affiliate member on state Thoracic Society 2 points Affiliate collaborates with initiatives to promote patient advocacy or the profession 2 points Affiliate work with other physician organizations 2 points Affiliate work with other multidisciplinary groups like nursing, pharmacy, etc.. 2 points

Student Activities/Leadership Mentoring Scoring Student participation in any activities/events in other categories, i.e. social events, health screening events, RC week events, chapter meetings, etc.. 2 points State Society has a student track at annual conference 2 points Student Sputum Bowl Team 2 points Student poster presentations or other competition 2 points State Society incorporates team building/strategic planning/leadership training into BOD meetings 2 points

Overall Scoring Committee will evaluate applications and score each section appropriately per criteria in each section The total score will be tallied with the sections weighted as follows: Legislative Activities 20% Benefits to Membership 20% Education/CRCE Activities 15% Student Activities/Leadership Mentoring 15% Collaboration with other health care organizations 10% Membership, Recruiting and Retention 10% Promoting Public Awareness 10% Any Affiliate that achieves excellence in a section will be recognized The Affiliate that achieves the highest score will win the Summit Award
