Simile- is a comparison of unlike things using like or as Ex: She runs like a cheetah

Metaphor- is a phrase for one thing used for another Ex: She’s a bear at the dinner table!

Ex: She was taller than a giraffe! Hyperbole- is an exaggeration for effect not meant to be taken literally. Ex: She was taller than a giraffe!

Alliteration- is a repetition of initial sounds of words. Ex: Bob bought big biting butterflies

Idiom- Set phrase with special meaning Ex: Hold your horses! Meaning: Wait , have patients

Personification- Giving an inanimate object lifelike qualities. Ex: The thunder screamed with anger!
