Fertilizer Market: Uganda Fertilizer Market Summary: Uganda’s fertilizer market is approximately 65,000mt, with NPKs and Urea accounting for 79 % of the total imports. Uganda imports all its fertilizer requirements from the international market either directly or via intermediate trading companies in Kenya. Fertilizer is imported into the country from Kenya, Europe, United Arab Emirates, South African and USA Fertilizer Imports: Figure below indicates the fertilizer imports from the 2005-2016. The data show that although there has been an upward trend in the fertilizer imported and utilized the magnitude and usage remains low. The total quantity of fertilizer imported and utilized increased from about 21 thousand metric tons in 2005 to 65 thousand metric tons in 2016. Very minimal amounts of fertilizer is re-exported approx. 500mt in 2016
