Concept Statement Real world Connection Ex. Velocity, Acceleration, Speed (Usain Bolt, Driving a car) Ex. Genetics/Heredity (Disease, Inheritance) Why is it important for the student to know? How can you apply your life experience?
TEKS Get them as early as possible! Content and Process TEKS Make sure they are both aligned with your topic and activity Activity can lead you to your Process TEKS.
TEKS When you get your TEKS, start thinking of when you were taught this subject Did you struggle with it? What about the topic made it difficult? Was it a common misconception? If so, what did you do to understand? Did you like the way it was taught to you?
Writing Objectives Use SWBAT format! Use the TEKS to help you write these. Think about what you want the students to know when you leave and what they will be able to do with this knowledge. Use those power verbs and make sure it makes sense. Read it out loud and think, “Do my planned activities allow my students to accomplish this?

Probing Questions Don’t forget to ask meaningful, open-ended, guided questions. Don’t be afraid to write A LOT of (at least 7) questions, it can be your biggest section. You don’t want to be unprepared for something.
Transition Statements Needs to: Flows well be a clear, concise statement that tells the students you are moving on. Be sure to relate what you just did to the upcoming activity. Say it out loud. Does it make sense?
Time Allocation This is probably one of the most important parts of your lesson plan. You need to know how much time you have and about how long each section will take. Use timers to help you stick to this!
Title Math Chemistry Biology Physics Reaching Your Limit Solid Foundation Who’s genes do I have? The Truth Hertz Your Tan line is Showing Oh my I’m Melting! Circle of Life What’s the Speed Limit? Log Me In How Revolting How do Parents Function?
And Remember… Don’t get excited and upload it immediately. Take time to look over it again and make sure you’ve answered every part. Have your partner(s) look over it to make sure there are no grammatical errors. So many people leave areas blank and lose unnecessary points. Don’t do that! At least try so we have something to work with and help you.
You can do it!
