Occupied - Daily The room is occupied by a patient. Occupied - Weekly The room is occupied by a patient. Between Patients: The room has vacated, and will be prepared for the arrival of a new patient. Note: Special procedures including more intensive cleaning procedures may be required in isolation areas or in areas housing immuno compromised individuals.

Patient Room – Daily Cleaning Patient Room – Weekly Cleaning Procedures Overview Patient Room – Daily Cleaning Patient Room – Weekly Cleaning Patient Room – Between Patients Specialty – Critical Care Units Specialty – Isolation Rooms Announce Yourself: Gently knock on the door, if the patient is alert, politely ask if it is a good time to clean your room. Set Up Safety Signs: Place a wet floor sign outside and inside the door. Put on new gloves when waste is properly sealed and placed in proper receptacles. Disinfect trash containers before replacing with fresh liners. Clean Bathrooms *See detailed procedures Check and Fill Dispensers. Towel dispensers, soap and sanitizer dispensers need to be filled. High Dust. Dust all horizontal surfaces above your shoulder. Clean High Touch Surfaces Use Century Q to wipe down all patient contact surfaces bedrails, tables, light switches, door knobs, window sills and all horizontal surfaces. Spot clean walls as needed. Dust Mop Floors. Collect debris, scrape any items from the floor as needed. Damp Mop Floors. Use a Century Q solution to mop floors.

Weekly Cleaning Patient Room Procedures In addition to the daily cleaning tasks, once a week do the following: Clean/Disinfect with proper solution Walls (use a wall mop if available) Ceiling Vents TV cabinets, trays, and brackets Clean the blinds Clean corners and along baseboards with disinfectant cleaner.
