Oral Bagrut Preparation

General Information 40% = interview. 60% = presentation. Bring: ID CARDS & PROJECTS Dates: 1/3 & 3/3 You ARE studying those days!!! Come 10 minutes EARLIER!!!!

More general guidelines No one word answers. It’s a conversation! DO NOT ask what you got! IF the tester finds something you say interesting, she might just ask about that for 5 minutes…

Part I – Personal Interview You will be asked questions about yourself for a few minutes. Be INTERESTING!!!! Do NOT lie!!! The following topics may come up: Where you live/ have lived Where & what you study Your family (ages and jobs) Your hobbies, interests, extra curricular activities Your future (army, studies, travels, living abroad) News, books, movies Can you think of any others? With a partner ask each other questions about each of these topics…

Sample Interview Tell me something about yourself. *If the tester does not ask a specific question you can tell her anything and then keep going until she asks something. My name is Oren. My mother gave me that name because it was her last name before she got married. It is a type of tree but I don’t actually like Oren trees. I do like my name though. I have two brothers and one sister. One brother is older than me. The other one is younger. The older one is married with two children. The younger one has a girlfriend and lives in Tel Aviv. My sister is younger than me and she lives with her boyfriend in Eilat. My mother works as a teacher in a kindergarten and my father is a computer engineer. How often do you see your siblings? I don’t see them very often. Everyone is very busy and it’s far to get to Tel Aviv and Eilat. We meet on the holidays mostly. Where do you think you’d like to live when you are older? I think I’d like to live in New York for a while. It seems like a lot of fun. There is so much to do there. I visited there once with my parents when I was 6 years old but I don’t remember much. I’d like to be there on New Year’s Eve.

Now you try What is your major at school? My major is __________. I chose it because _______________________. I’m glad/not happy I chose this major because _______________. If I could choose anything to learn I would want to learn about ________________.

Try one more… What do you do with your free time after school? I like to ________ I usually __________ I work as ______________ I watch ____________ I play _____________ I go ________________

Last one  What are you planning to do after high school? I plan on going to the army. I want to be in the ________ corps because I plan on taking a year off to ____________ because I plan on traveling to _____________ because I plan on studying ______________ because

Part II - Project Presentation Read your projects & prepare the following: Introduction: My project is about _________. I came up with the topic by_________. I chose this topic because ______________. I did it with a friend / alone. Body: The most interesting I learned was ___________. I already knew that ___________ but I found out that __________________. Conclusion: Doing the project was __________. It was hard to _____________ but I managed. I am happy/ not happy with my final product because _______________________. If I had to do it over again I would _______________________________. This is not a conversation. You MUST speak for about 5 minutes on your own. Only then the tester will ask you questions.

Remember!! Come on time! Speak politely! No GUM! Smile! Bring your I.D. card! Bring your project! Turn OFF your PHONE!!! You may say: “Excuse me? Could you repeat the question?” but DO NOT USE HEBREW. Never say “I don’t know”.

Who wants to try?
