Assess and document level of support/needs assessment among DLB practitioners Provide evidence that DLB makes difference —case studies Publish and disseminate results/case studies Advocacy programs with policy makers Identify ways of supporting DLB on sustainable basis Group 1

Group 2 - Stephen, Kerri, Margaret, Richard, Siddique, and Fenta 1. Assessment of level of support from DLB and market led approaches by policymakers (national gov’t, Africa R&D institutions/ universities and donors, High level policy brief on DLB in a country or regional basis (it souled be focused group) Initiate policy dialogue to align with the country policy context: how DLB can contribute to the country strategy Include case studies, success stories along the value chain should be included in a dialogue

2. How to get support at R&D institutions level to support change and adoption of DLB best practices with in public Breeding program Technical team engagement should be prior to policy level Similar approach in the public breeding programs, It is not a one time dialogue and it should be in a continuous feedback loop 3. Content and scale out of advocacy programs with policy makers, R&D leaders and donors Invest, develop and promote case studies to help in scaling out and advocating DLP work Create and integrate approach with other geographic region where DLP approach is working (SES, Europe, Australia, USA)

4. Dissemination and publications Implement strong communication as part of phase II Update and strengthening policy briefs, Strategic media statements Integration with other professional fora for dissemination Share information with media, new training, with extended partners

How to gain support at R&D institutions level support to change and adoption of DLB best practices within the public breeding programme Identify the champions, build their confidence and constitute an equipped team Engagement R&D top management to develop an implementation plan at the R&D institutions Engage the management of National seed services/authority Produce relevant information materials (dissimination and publication) Content and scale out of advance programme with policy makers, R&D leaders and donors Linking the current inadequate variety adoption to the non use of DLB and link possibility of improved livelihoods / agro business and related wealth and business – employment

Assessment (create awareness ) of level of support of DLB and market led approaches by policy makers in national goverments, Africa R&D and donors Show what the DLB can contribute to country population livelihoods (agro-business and its benefits)
