The Earth Science 2018-19

Where is the Earth? It’s a spiral shape galaxy. We can find the Earth in a galaxy called Milky Way. It’s a spiral shape galaxy.

In this galaxy, there is the Solar System. There is a Sun and 8 planets.

What about the Earth? It’s the 3rd planet from the Sun. It’s about 150 million kilometers away from the Sun. It has got a lot of water. Sometimes, the Earth is called “The blue planet”. It’s a rocky planet. Some planets are made up of gas. As far as we know, the Earth is the only place that life exists.

How is made up? The Earth is made up of different layers: The crust it is the external part of the Earth. It is a solid. We can differentiate between oceanic crust and continental crust. The mantle it is the part between the crust and the core. The corethe core is made up of iron and nickel. We can differentiate two parts: inner core and outer core. We can find solid and liquid materials.

THE MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH: There are two movements: Rotation: It lasts one day, 24 hours. It turns around itself. The Earth we get the night and the day. Translation/ revolution: It lasts one year, 365 days. The Earth goes around the Sun. We get the seasons: winter, summer, spring and autumn. THE MOVEMENTS OF THE EARTH:

The atmosphere The atmosphere is gas layer that covers the Earth. It’s made up of nitrogen and oxygen. It allows us to breathe. It keeps the Earth warm. It protects us from the Sun radiations and meteors.
