University of Toronto Business Association 2018 – 2019 Academic Year

ABOUT UTBA Our Vision & Goals What are we looking for? We are a non-for-profit student-run organization that aims to bridge the gap between the academia and business world. Our mission is to create a central hub for students who are passionate about business across different disciplines. Our Vision & Goals Provide training to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge for the workforce, through seminars and networking sessions Connect students to career opportunities (internships, etc.) What are we looking for? Engaging with businesses and organizations, who would like to support our mission of helping students excel in their desired business field

Our Origin UTBA was set up in 2013-14 academic year by UofT engineering students who sought to provide career development opportunities to students with non-business academic backgrounds. As the non-profit student organization, UTBA has received tremendous supports from the business world in Toronto. Not only corporate sponsors, but also business professionals volunteer as the official guests to our events to share their experiences with business and non-business students. We are tremendously grateful for every individual and organization who contributed to establishing the UTBA as the central hub between university students and business

WHAT DO WE DO? Past Collaborators During the school year, we regularly host workshops based on student’s interests, attracting students from engineering, computer science, commerce and beyond to attend. The annual conference immerse students in an intense, yet friendly environment to develop their knowledge and skills through panels and case competitions. Our speakers and organization representatives come from a variety of businesses and industries. By creating an advanced network of peers, alumni and reputable industry leaders for our students, we provide them the chance of continuous growth along their career paths.

PAST EVENTS Few of the many events we’ve hosted for university students in Toronto the past 5 years Annual Conference An all-day conference with a case competition, keynote speakers and an attendance rate of 60 participants. The event featured 10 business professionals from management, consulting and entrepreneurship fields. Consulting Panel A discussion and networking session had 40 participants across campus, and seven professionals from top consulting firms. Tech 101 A combination of speaker series and networking, in the fields of data science, AI and blockchain. The eight professionals included Amazon’s CEOs and data scientists. All 50 tickets were sold out, as it attracted students from many different educational backgrounds.

Past Sponsors We have gained support from many businesses in the Toronto area over the years, they have provided deliciously baked dessert, elaborately crafted coffee and passionately cooked food for our events. Some sponsors are internationally known, while some sponsors are originated right here, in Toronto.
