ISRA has been active in preparing regulation Preparing Hong Kong Convention; EU-Ship Recycling Regulation; 8/16/2019

Hong Kong Convention (HKC) Ratification HKC is very important; HKC is first step towards worldwide regulation for sound and safe ship recycling; Ship recycling yards: Designed, Constructed and Operated; Weakness of HKC: National governments decide over compliance yards No independent verifier Ratification of all countries concerned is necessary to make further progress ; HKC is a stepping stone for EU Ship Recycling Regulation (EU list); ISRA: For the future HKC can look at the EU-Regulation; 8/16/2019

EU Ship Recycling Regulation Facilitates ratification of Hong Kong Convention Stricter than Hong Kong Convention ISRA welcomes this clarity, equals ISRA standards EU- list is an excellent tool for restoring level playing field.
