Top Cat Phase II P12352 Team Members: Faculty Guide: Mahdi Massey – EE Brian Rosenberger – EE Andrew Strobel – EE Tsz Hang Yung - EE Faculty Guide: George Slack Sponsor: David Perlman Mission Statement: Goal of this project is to develop two short range alert devices that will fit on two collars to prevent cats from fighting Engineering Specs: Detection Range of 25’ Safe Deterrent 0.8”x1”x0.5” Enclosure Does not restrict cat’s movement (Light weight) Both collars are transmitting a burst of a 33kHz IR signal and looking for a 33kHz signal. When this signal is detected, this triggers the 555 timer to output a 25kHz audio pulse. To prevent the collars from detecting it’s own signal, an inverter was used to turn off the detector when the circuit was transmitting. Battery IR Transmitter IR Receiver Tone Generator Output Speaker Battery Indicator On – Off Switch Blue Trace is the IR Receiver, when the receiver goes low, the 555 timer outputs a 25kHz signal to the output speaker (Yellow Trace) Technologies: IR for collar detection RF signal to alert the owner High Frequency sound for deterrent Test Results: Detection range of 15’ Deterrent is a 25kHz high frequency sound Size is minimized and does not interfere with a cat’s movement PCB of final product with 556 timer’s on the board to generate the oscillating waves
