Causes Of The Great Depression In Canada By: Liam B, Ethan B and Felix B

Opening The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the industrialized world, lasting from 1929 to 1939. During the decade, the Roaring Twenties businesses expanded production rapidly. It began after the crash of the stock market on October 29, 1929. It sent Wall Street Into a panic and wiped out millions (of people or businesses who gave money to help start businesses).

Overproduction Causes of the great depression were unsold products that remained in warehouses. A lot of money was spent building factories all over Canada. Products were too expensive for the wages that people got. In addition, many companies laid off workers because they could not afford to pay them.

Malnutrition Because of the lack of money and employment, People were forced to eat low-cost foods that include, corn, beans and potatoes. Radio stations and magazines were a huge help to canadians, they taught people how to cook with a lower food budget, which helped canadians decrease their average spending on food.

Solutions 1937 was an important year in the recovery from the Great Depression. It took the outbreak of World War II to pull Canada out. From 1939, an increased demand in Europe for materials, and increased spending by the Canadian government created a strong boost for the economy.
