The Ten Point Rule Students must have at least 10 points to pass a class 10 points = D Five points must be earned between the third and forth quarter for an annual course. Semester courses work the same way, 10 points are required to pass

10 Point Rule Examples 10 point Rule Examples Class A (1.0 credit) A B C B 10 7.5 5 7.5 30 points = 3.0 B Class B (1.0 credit) A B F D 10 7.5 0 2.5 20 points, BUT student only has 2.5 points in 2nd semester, therefore they failed the course

Course Recovery: Adult Education If you have already failed a state required course (or fail one in your senior year), you will not receive a diploma from the state of Florida Therefore, it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you enroll into the Adult Education program to recover the course ASAP. However, you cannot attend Summer School or Night School without a “Credit Certification for Adult Education” Form that your counselor gives you. Please note: these requirements are for the 2014-2015 cohort only!

Failing Courses If you are at risk of failing a class required for graduation between January – June (including electives), you will be placed on Probation and not allowed to participate in Senior Events.

Probation Students may be placed on Probation for the following reasons: GPA “at risk”- at or below a 2.2 unweighted AND/OR Failing or in danger of REQUIRED courses AND/OR Attendance AND/OR Tardies Referrals Students on Probation will not be allowed to participate in activities and school events Please note: these requirements are for the 2014-2015 cohort only!

GPA Myth Buster End this myth ASAP Your GPA NEVER “freezes” End this myth ASAP GPAs are calculated at the end of every semester August, January, June Some Universities WILL LOOK at your grades/gpa at the middle and end of the year Do not put yourself at risk
