Giving Every Lion and Leo a Voice

Being a Lion is Empowering The 2019-2020 New Voices Initiative promotes gender parity and diversity and seeks to increase the number of women, young adults and underrepresented populations within our association.

New Voices Help Us Grow New Voices is a platform for sharing new ideas and from learning from each other. It seeks to encourage clubs to be dynamic and innovative by trying something new. It encourages each Lion to reach out to potential Lions and share our association so we all have the opportunity to grow personally and professionally.

New Voices are Lions and Leos who demonstrate exceptional influence, in one of four areas: SERVICE MEMBERSHIP LEADERSHIP MARKETING WHO ARE NEW VOICES?

Nominee Selection Process GAT area and regional leaders GAT Chairperson International New Voices Coordinator DIGITAL New Voices District New Voices The GAT Chairperson and the International New Voices Coordinator to select a final set of four 4 GAT area and regional leaders will narrow nominates to four Lions from each constitutional area 3 Nominee Selection Process MDs will be given nominee names and asked to identify the top four MD New Voices 2 All DGs have been provided certificates and asked to nominate one Lion in each New Voices category by October 31, 2019 1 LCI will also monitor activity through our digital platform to identify Lions of influence.

Nomination Timeline The Nomination Process: Each District Governor was provided certificates to recognize a Lion or Leo in each category prior to their term during the International Convention in Milan. Once the nominations are made, the process outlined below secures the information regarding the nomination as well as the nominees acceptance of the nomination and approval to share their story. October 31st Deadline for districts to provide nominations November 15th LCI requests stories from nominees (and accept nomination)   January 1st Deadline for nominees to submit stories and their acceptance January 15th District stories submitted to Multiple Districts March 1st Deadline for Multiple Districts to nominate MD recipients March 15th Stories submitted to GAT Area and Regional Leaders April 1st Top stories selected in each CA April 15th Top stories selected globally Nomination Timeline

Structure and Support

ROLE OF THE GLOBAL ACTION TEAM Area Leaders Promote New Voices locally during events and Forums Recommend New Voices to the GAT Chairperson and International New Voices Coordinator Feature local New Voices at district events and communications LCI will provide tools and support Microsite with materials and resources Presentations and materials needed for local events showcasing New Voices Digital platform for recognizing outstanding New Voices Facebook

Who can participate? Anyone who believes that Lions helps to empower them! Who want to share their experience Who has a new idea to share Who has not had an opportunity to lead Who believes in our mission and wants to get others involved

“ PROGRAM SUPPORT Team Support Social Website Webinars Events 1 Team Support From the District Governor through the Global Leaders, providing presentations, materials and consulting support for local initiatives. 2 Social Manage social media to be utilized to engage members at all levels and share ideas. 3 Website Bold presence on the website that serves as a destination for campaign promotion and resources. “ I‘m a voice of membership. I’m a voice of leadership. I’m a voice of service. I’m a voice of marketing. I’m a new voice, which voice are you? 4 Webinars Continue volunteer-led webinars that proved successful in sharing ideas and reaching Lions with leadership development concepts that were meaningful. 5 Events Refine and expand participation in International Women’s Day and other events to reach beyond Lions and reposition LCI as inclusive.

Women’s Workshop Grant Women’s Symposium Grant ADDITIONAL RESOURCES Women’s Workshop Grant US$8,000 is available per Constitutional Area, each fiscal year as designated funding to host a Women’s Workshop. Up to US$2000 can be used towards each event. Women’s Symposium Grant US$8,000 is available per Constitutional Area, each fiscal year as designated funding to host a Women’s Symposium. • Explore factors surrounding the recruitment and retention of women in specific parts of the world • Devise strategies for increasing the number of women in membership and leadership positions • Create action plans for implementation • Identify new community projects that are of interest to women • Promote Lions clubs within the community • Identify potential members • Charter a new club/club branch to complete a new community project
