Patterned NanoFibers and Composites Julie Chen, Mechanical Engineering Research focus is on the mechanical behavior and deformation of fiber structures, fiber assemblies, and composite materials, with an emphasis on analytical modeling, novel experimental measurements, and manufacturing. Nanoheaters: Thermal imaging of heat output from ignited Ni-Al nanolayer films (RNT samples shown) Electrospinning can be used to create submicron diameter fibers with high surface area and fabrics with fine porosity. Greater functionality can be achieved through controlled patterns. Experimental setup to measure properties of polymers in micro-and nano-channels (components from Cascade Microtech)
