What makes EARTH, Earth?

ENERGY is the ability to THE SUN affects everything on Earth’s surface. The SUN is a source of ENERGY. ENERGY is the ability to do work or cause change.

with air, land, water and living things to make the planet EARTH. The SUN Working together with air, land, water and living things to make the planet EARTH. AIR, LAND, WATER, AND LIVING THINGS ARE Parts CALLED…

SPHERES Because the spheres work together, the spheres TOGETHER with the SUN, are the parts that make EARTH

The Earth has four main parts or spheres: - Atmosphere Biosphere Hydrosphere Lithosphere

Atmosphere ATMOSPERE = Vapor Sphere Atmosphere is the outermost sphere. This sphere contains the GASES that we call air. It is also where clouds, storms, smog are found.

Atmosphere…vapor or gases of Earth Clouds Smog Storms

BIOSPHERE BIOSPHERE = Life Sphere Contains all living things in the air, ocean and on or beneath the land surface. Bugs, animals, humans, plants, birds, tube worms living in the deep ocean floor…all living things.

Lithosphere LITHOSPHERE - It is also called the Rock Sphere The UNEVEN Surface = LAND Thin CRUST…Rocky Mountains, Andes Mountains Great Plains, Ocean Floor Thick MANTLE  LIQUID CORE 

are part of the lithosphere Solid MANTLE and Liquid CORE The lithospere is the Earth’s solid, rocky outer layer. It includes the crust (all land and the ocean floor), mantle, and liquid core are part of the lithosphere

Andes Mountains, South America are part of the lithosphere

Rocky Mountains, North America are part of the lithosphere

Great Plains from North Dakota to Texas are part of the lithosphere

Ocean Floor is part of the lithosphere

HYDROSPHERE HYDROSPERE =Water Sphere Consists of Water in the oceans, lakes, rivers, streams, between rocks, underground, in the soil and in the air. Most of the Earth’s water is found in the oceans.

MATTER is made up of atoms Groups of atoms are molecules. Everything is made up of atoms. Matter moves through ENERGY TRANSFER.

ENERGY can be TRANSFERRED from Place to place by : Moving Objects Waves like sound waves electromagnetic waves Heat Flow from warm object to cooler object

Heat is the thermal energy transferred from one object to another as a result of a difference in temperature. Thermal Energy = TOTAL Energy of all of the atoms that make up an object. Atoms are in constant motion. Their motion and vibration contains energy.
