Tables Part 1 Open Microsoft Word Click on the “Insert” tab Click the “Table” button 2) 3) Create a table with 3 rows & 4 columns 4)

Tables Part 2 Sample Type the following into the table Use your mouse to highlight these three cells Click the “Design” tab and click the “Shading” button ***When your cursor is inside the table, there will be two design tabs. To edit the table, use the design tab to the far right, under “Table Tools” Shade the cells the following color: Red: 200 Green: 250 Blue: 200 Sample

Tables Part 3 Place your cursor inside the top left cell 2) Under the “Design” tab, click the dropdown from the “Borders” button Deselect the following buttons: Top Border Left Border Click the pen weight tool and choose “4 ½ pt” 2) 3) 4)

Tables Part 4 Continued Sample In the left column type “Sunday” and “Monday” In the Ruler, grab the gray box and slide it left to shorten the width of this column Use your mouse to select the ‘Sunday’ and ‘Monday’ cells 2) Under the “Design” tab click the border dropdown and select the “Right Border” button 4) Sample

Tables Part 5 In the ‘Sunday Lunch’ cell type “Brunch” Use your mouse to highlight the ‘Sunday’ row Hover your mouse over the left border of the ‘Brunch’ cell until your mouse cursor changes 3) Slide the left border halfway into the ‘Breakfast’ cell Use your mouse to highlight the ‘Monday’ row Under the “Layout” tab, click “Insert Below” In the bottom left cell type “Tuesday” 4) 7)

Tables Part 6 In the ‘Monday Breakfast’ cell type “Pancakes” Use your mouse to highlight the ‘Breakfast’ cells for both Monday and Tuesday Under the “Layout” tab, select “Merge Cells” Leave the word “Pancakes” highlighted Click the “Align Center” button

Tables Sample Save Save this file as: “FirstName LastName Table Tutorial.docx” Upload the file to BlackBoard Under the “Tutorials” Tab
