What is PowerPoint? PowerPoint 2002 is the presentation graphics program in Office XP. Professionals can create eye-catching slides, handouts, outlines, and notes to deliver an impressive presentation.

The PowerPoint Environment Slide Pane Notes Pane Task Pane Outline and Slides Tabs

The Different PowerPoint Views The Normal view is the default view in PowerPoint. All slide editing is performed in this view. The Slide Sorter view displays all slides in your presentation as thumbnails. The Slide Show view allows you to view your presentation as a slide show. The Notes Page view displays how notes pages will print.

Toolbars PowerPoint has 13 toolbars including the Task Pane. By default, the Standard, Formatting, and Drawing toolbars are displayed.

Getting Help The Ask a Question Box allows you to type in key words relevant to the topic with which you would like help. The Office Assistant watches what you do and offers tips on how to work more productively. PowerPoint 2002 displays a Tip of the Day each time you start PowerPoint.

Adding Text to a Slide

Formatting Text To format text, you need to select it before you can apply any formatting changes. You can format text using the Font dialog box.

Using Undo and Redo Click the Undo or Redo icons on the Standard toolbar to undo or redo one action. Click the down arrow beside the Undo and Redo icons to perform multiple undos and redos.

Using Find and Replace Type in the text you want to find in the Find what box. Type in the replacement text in the Replace with box.
