3) Feedback Positive Clear Use to inform future teaching ‘Success breeds success’

4) Interleaving Pigeon Steps 1 car + 2 cars = ⅛ + ⅝ = ½ + ¾ =

5) Intervention 70% in year 11 homework or lunch help given Homework for all years if really bad sorted at lunch All students encouraged and supported to understand each and every topic They now expect to ‘get’ everything

6) ‘hegartymaths.com’ Online resource Encouraging to use through praise rather than sanctions Fantastic for students that miss a topic to catch up Used for revision for tests

7) Use of Data Student tracking system Can compare parallel group test scores and those with previous years PP students highlighted Maths data all one place

8) Revision System Students taught how to revise in years 7 to 10 Blue revision books created and used Potential consequences for doing badly in a test Year 11 do 5 a day homework with topic exam questions Past papers done weekly in test conditions

9) Systems Have systems for everything! Makes staff and students feel safe E.g. systems for homework, poor behaviour, learning Story of learning system Structure of your lessons

10) Use ‘epraise’ Put on homework Communicate to parents Year 11 – we put on homework scores and past paper test score average after 3 papers with a grade Seating plans – so we can share with cover teachers

Any questions?
