More than one TMAY One TMAY does not “Fit All”

What it should contain Your name and what you do Key responsibilities & accountabilities Key strength(s) A recent achievement (if applicable) of which you are proud What you can do for clients/employers Who you are looking for A reminder of your name and the position you are looking for

So what do you do? Before you’ve said hello

Research

Preparation is key

Attention to detail

…and After saying Hello

Keep things focused

Be passionate

Studies have shown people stop paying attention after only eight seconds

Where to start! Use your CV, About Us or LinkedIn page as a starting point Ensure it matches your Personal Brand Focus on the last 5 years List your key (transferable) skills Highlight key achievements – quantify them in % terms Say what you do well/do better Identify how you can help Mention soft skills – if necessary Now and only now start writing

A few do’s Don’t ramble Don’t include irrelevant detail Do… Use positive language Be concise Adapt to particular situation Quantify Context driven

Delivery Adapt your delivery to the particular situation time available – the individual – the situation 15 to 30 word summaries of each item Practice linking content to achieve a smooth delivery – avoid sounding ‘scripted’ Focus on achievements – why they should use you Punctuate with silence not sighs or “ums” and “errs” Look at the person/people you are speaking to Read their body language

Speed dating! Sit in two lines facing one another Video your “Partner” for the first & last TMAY 1 minute delivery then… 1 minute feedback from the other party Other party delivers for 1 min then feedback Row 1 moves one place along Repeat Meet back as a group and discuss what works & what doesn’t
