GPS: SS8H5 The student will explain significant factors that affected the development of Georgia as part of the growth of the United States between 1789 and 1840. SS8E1 The student will give examples of the kinds of goods and services produced in Georgia in different historical periods. WORK SESSION: Vocabulary Quiz -Local Government and Citizenship Power Point Notes: Georgia at the Dawn of a New Century (Pages 184-188) Georgia Stories: “The Railroads: Economic Boom”(6:21) One-Pager 1)3 important facts 2) Picture 3) What names were given to the main railroad center in Georgia? 4) 2 Questions you have about the video. CLOSING: It’s Your Turn Questions from page 188. Interactive Notebook HOMEWORK: NONE

Physical Science Lesson Plans January 31, 2012 OPENING: Prepare for Presentations/ Energy Transformation (Power Point, Moviemaker, or Globster) EQ: How are the forms of energy alike and how are they not alike? GPS: S8P2 a. Explain energy transformation in terms of the law of Conservation of Energy S8P2 b. Explain the relationship between potential and kinetic energy S8P2c. Compare and contrast the different forms of energy and their S8P3c. Demonstrate the effect of simple machines (level, inclined plane, pulley, wedge, screw, and wheel and axle) on work. WORK SESSION: Presentations today: Energy Transformation Activity Power Notes: Thermal Energy and Conservation of Energy CLOSING: When two objects at different temperature are in contact, what happens to their thermal energy? HOMEWORK: NONE
