Homework This will be given out every Friday. All children will be expected to complete this and return it by Wednesday. The Maths homework will relate to the topic taught in class that
week plus there are times tables books to ensure children are secure in knowing their tables. The English homework will involve completing reading comprehension exercises, writing in specific genres that have been taught and grammar activities. Spellings will be given out each week and children will be tested on a Friday.

Spelling Award Scheme We are pleased to introduce our new Spelling Award Scheme this year designed to motivate pupils and reward them for learning the key words for their year group. Children will have the opportunity to work through the different colour levels showing their ability to learn a range of spellings. This encourages the children to practise key skills and once a level is achieved they will earn themselves an award. We will select an appropriate colour for your child to begin with and their list will be handed out this week. Each year group will start at a level based on age related expectations. Some pupils may begin on a different level according to their ability. This list is theirs to learn, at home, this half term alongside their weekly spelling lists which are given to learn and practise individual spelling patterns. Parents are encouraged to support their children learning these at home. Your child will be tested in the penultimate week of this half term and results will be sent home the following week.

Children can go up and down within a given day. 6 house points achieved in a day. A gold certiciate is given out in Friday's celebration assembly. Children can go up and down within a given day. Children can redeem themselves and move back up from red or yellow to green. In some circumstances, children may move down to yellow for a serious incident, despite being on gold, silver or bronze. Each day children start back on green, regardless of where they were on the chart the previous day. 4 house points achieved in a day. Children recieve a silver certiciate in class. 2 house points earned in a day. Green is the starting point. It's fine to be remain on green the whole day. After a verbal warning, children will be placed on yellow to correct their behaviour. Children will be moved to a quiet area of the classroom. After a final warning, children they will move to red.
They will be sent to another class and parents will be
notified.

Each topic begins with an event to engage the child. They then spend several weeks acquiring skills and knowledge before creating their own work based on what they have learnt.

The foundation subjects will be taught using this scheme. Details will be given on the Curriculum Map. We have begun with 'Gallery Rebels'.
