Welcome to Computer Literacy .

Course Objectives Use software programs that are common in an IT workplace Explore IT career paths and assess your personal aptitudes Investigate the history and role of hardware and software in IT Learn and apply introductory programming skills to solve specific Examine the legal, ethical, social, and technical issues surrounding networks and the Internet

Basic Curriculum This course covers basic computer and digital literacy competencies . 45 days Topics include: Information Technology Basics IT and Computer Hardware Basic Computer Skills Word Processing Basics Spreadsheet Basics Presentation Software Basics Using the Internet

Class Rules and Procedures Purpose: Create a positive learning environment What is Expected of You Arrive on time and prepared to learn. Read the daily announcement. Check your computer. Before you leave each day Write you daily blog post. Log off and leave area clean.

Graded Work Include your full name (first and last) on all classwork you hand in. Always use your own words; if you copy I don’t know if you learned anything. Be engaged the whole period If you are absent check dockerby.com to see what you missed and make it up right away.

A Few More Points You are responsible for all missed notes and classwork. Use dkerby.com to stay up to date. Food and drinks are not allowed in the computer lab; no exceptions. Cell phones are not allowed as per school policy. ASK FOR HELP when you need it or if you do not understand something. This is your class so take advantage of it.
