Materials: Catalyst sheet, notes sheet Catalyst (5 min): Ms. Beck wants to see if giving students more tutoring before tests would increase the average GPA at Forest Park High School. She decides to run an experiment, but needs your help in designing it: (a) State a hypothesis for Ms. Beck  (If……then……) (b) Describe one way the experimental group should be treated differently than the control. (c) Identify the dependent variable in Ms. Beck’s experiment.   (d) If the data that Ms. Beck collects fails to support her hypothesis, is her experiment invalid? Justify your answer.
