Influence of Gender and Frailty on Mortality After Elective Aortic Aneurysm Repair  Sarah Barbey, Lusine Yaghjyan, Paul Kubilis, Adam W. Beck, Philip Goodney, Kristina A. Giles, Thomas S. Huber, Gilbert R. Upchurch, Salvatore T. Scali  Journal of Vascular Surgery  Volume 69, Issue 1, Pages e16-e17 (January 2019) DOI: 10.1016/j.jvs.2018.10.032 Copyright © 2018 Terms and Conditions

Fig Percentage of the study population who underwent early aneurysm repair as based on the Society for Vascular Surgery recommended diameter threshold (men, <55 mm; women, <50 mm), stratified by sex and frailty level. Overall, male patients were twice as likely to undergo early repair as female patients. Higher frailty strata were associated with fewer early endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) repairs (male, P = .03; female, P = .02); however, there was no significant difference in the percentage of patients who underwent early open aortic repair (OAR) based on frailty strata (male, P = .15; female, P = .94). mFI, Modified Frailty Index.
