Galveston Education plan overview The following education plan will outline Urban Strategies (USI) efforts to increase outcomes in the areas of kindergarten readiness, core academic functioning, high school graduation and beyond. Data available through LEARN, the State of Texas, and Galveston Independent School District (GISD) informs the development of this Plan. The plan will focus on: Youth residing in assisted housing (Cedars and Villas) The disaggregation of data by race for this population. USI national performance measures. 2019 education targets and results. Plan partnerships and funding.

Program and Population Result Program and Population Result: All Families in the Cedars and Villas are Stable and Thriving WHOLE POPULATION: Galveston County: Children Ages 0-18 5,328 (Source: Suburban Stats) Neighborhood Population Children Ages 0-18: 201 (Source: MBM) Target Population: Youth living in mixed income communities served by Urban Strategies: 196 (Source: LEARN) Cedars at Carver Park Youth: 92 Villas on the Strand Youth: 104
