Fearing the Father 1 Peter 1:17-21

Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me.” John 8:42

You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. John 8:44

Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8

We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one. 1 John 3:12

The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one Matthew 13:38

Three Great Needs Our Needs God’s Provision A new legal status A new family A new life Justification Adoption Sanctification

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God John 1:12

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:1–2

Live out the time of your sojourn in reverent fear of God because: God is our Father He is the impartial judge of each person’s work You were redeemed from evil ways

Manumission - to release from slavery “Ransomed” Manumission - to release from slavery

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. Titus 2:11-14

Live out the time of your sojourn in reverent fear of God because: God is our Father He is the impartial judge of each person’s work You were redeemed from evil ways Fearing God results in hope

Give greater thought to the consequences than to the immediate pleasures. Start each day renewing your sense of reverence for God. Throughout the day, focus on Christ, for that strengthens your sanctification and renews your hope.
