Social Work Club Base Budget Request 2018-2019

Club Objectives and Objective Accomplishment in 2017-2018 Promote interest and a better understanding of social work among social work and interested students at CCSU: In the 2017-2018 year: Designed and distributed 100 hoodies to social work students and professors at CCSU Event with the speaker Iran Nazario on working with at-risk youth and gang violence Fresh Check Day participation Fundraisers to support various local and international projects: Donated to CCSU’s Ana Grace Project for the Puerto Rican hurricane relief effort Donated to CARE Scholars for care packages and office supplies

Budget Request 1: NASW Conference Annual conference held by the Connecticut chapter of the National Association of Social Workers in Cromwell, CT Features include keynote speakers, exhibitor displays, workshops, and opportunities for networking Attending students will be able to further their knowledge on social work, find potential volunteer and work opportunities, and empower one another The club would like to cover the registration fees of 15 seniors, 10 juniors, and 5 sophomores for a total of 30 students at $65.00 per student 30 students x $65.00 per student totals to $1,950.00

Budget Request 2: Speaker Events/Trainings To provide students with the experiences and trainings necessary for a diverse future in social work the club would like to provide: Two speaker events per semester One training per semester Images shown from a QPR (question, persuade, refer) suicide prevention training offered on 4/12/2017 Request $400.00 to fulfill the costs of these services

Budget Request 3: Refreshments for Events The club would like to provide refreshments for members at speaker events as well as the club’s last yearly meeting Pizza, garlic bread, and ice water have been provided to students in the past To allow members to refuel and relax during such events Request $200.00 for this purpose
