LCPS Music programs continue to be recognized across Virginia for high quality instruction and student performances. This past year LCPS had a record 10 Virginia Honor Bands and 14 VMEA Blue Ribbon Schools. Music programs bring school communities together through cluster concerts and school performances. Students had countless opportunities for authentic real world performance experiences such as performances in China and Hawaii, at professional sporting events and at the Kennedy Center.

Accomplishments LCPS has been selected as a “Best Community for Music Education” by the NAMM foundation (only 18 school districts in the Commonwealth) Music Department of SMMS earned a 2019 NAMM Merit Award (only 1 in 4 designees in Virginia)

Accomplishments 90% of All VA Guitar students were from LCPS. More than a third (74 students) of the Regional Orchestra were from LCPS. 7 LCPS students qualified for All Virginia Jazz Ensemble. 17 LCPS students qualified for VA Honors Choir (open only to seniors across the state). LCPS MS Choral students captured 51 seats for Virginia ACDA MS Honor Choir and 32 students made the National ACDA choirs.

Accomplishments 8 LCPS students qualified for the 2018 NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles. 56 LCPS students qualified for All-Virginia Band/Chorus/Orchestra.
