Time management + Journaling Lesson 1 World of work Time management + Journaling Lesson 1

You Your goals Your dreams How you manage your time (life) Technology: building a structure You Your goals Your dreams How you manage your time (life)

Is it time to panic now? You are the captain of your sports team It is the day before a final match against your rival team and you need a good night’s rest. You have a big Natural Science project due the next day and you haven’t started yet. You have to sort out your sports equipment so that it’s in top form for the next day. You promised your friend that you would help him/her with a Math question. You still need to make a birthday card for your sister’s birthday next week. You have to finish watching the last episode of your favourite series, as you can’t get your mind off of it. Give students 2-3 mins to discuss in which order they will manage each task Students give feedback regarding the factors they used to determine the order *Key term: Prioritising – doing the most important things first.

Being Effective Effective: doing the right things at the right times, or doing what’s needed to make a difference. 1. URGENT AND IMPORTANT DO NOW 2. NOT URGENT BUT IMPORTANT DO NEXT 3. URGENT BUT NOT IMPORTANT MANAGE THESE 4. NOT URGENT OR IMPORTANT WAIT

First, you need to know what you have to do Use: A master list A dairy A calendar A daily to do list Then, prioritise what you will do day by day

Master List Prioritise Daily To-do list Calendar/Diary Write everything you need to do. Don’t worry about the order. Ask others in case you can’t remember Prioritise Put your tasks in the correct order Urgent and important first. Then important but not urgent Certain things happen on certain days Things that aren’t urgent or important come last. Daily To-do list Write down tasks according to certain times How long tasks will take Tick them off as you complete them Calendar/Diary Plan tasks by day Again, put urgent and important first Keep due dates in mind Plot events for specific days See if you can fit in things that are not urgent/important Leave time for relaxing/ unexpected tasks

Activity time Complete the worksheet You have 15 minutes to complete this individual activity After you have completed the activity, swop with a classmate They have 5 minutes to investigate and give ideas on how to improve your plan
