Why Learn About the Red River Metis? You should recall that one of the reasons for Confederation was for Canada to expand into Rupert’s Land before the USA However…there were already many different groups of people living in Rupert’s Land; including the Metis… How the Canadian government & Metis respond to each other would have huge impacts on modern Canada
