Murder Mystery Queenie & Arthur…What happened in this image? What claim can you make as to what happened to Arthur? What is your evidence? What is your reasoning?

Helper Sentences Make a Claim I observed_________________ when _____________________. I compared_________________ and _____________________. I noticed_________________, when _____________________. The effect of _________________ on ________________ is _______________________. Provide Evidence for the Claim The evidence I use to support __________________ is ________________________. I believe _________________ (statement) because ________________ (justification). I know that __________________ is ________________ because ____________________. Based on _______________________, I think _________________________. Explain how Evidence Supports your Claim and Scientific Principle that Applies The evidence supports my claim because/by _________________. The scientific principle or law that supports my claim is ________________________, because ___________________________________________________.

Written Response/Short Answer Always write in complete sentences. Do not start with it, they, them, because… Always tell who or what before using a pronoun. Always provide evidence to support your answer (claim) and explain why (reasoning), even if the question does not ask for it. Always identify the variable in your answer. Bad Example: The boy pushed the cart until it was going so fast he fell off the track. Better Example: The force (the boy) accelerated (pushed) the cart to the maximum speed of 25 m/s (going so fast) where the mass of 10kg (the cart) could not longer be accelerated (where the boy fell off the track).

Read the question twice 2x Highlight key words, circle or underline directive words Circle/box in graphics, data tables, diagrams Data tables – show the math , show the relationships Graphs/Charts – label the parts, label the relationships Annotate RIGHT and WRONG answers Cross off wrong answers, circle the correct answer Check your answer to the question to make sure you answered the question BEFORE you move on to the next question
