Checklist for joint engagement - DTM and Partners Tools, guidance and examples to help on each step are available in DTM&Partners Toolkit (https://displacement.iom.int/dtm-toolkit/dtm-partners-toolkit ) Introduce DTM Explain process & roles Identify Information needs Phrase questions, answers, analysis. Agree on dissemination and feedback Strengths: Monitoring rather than one-off Experience, used in 60 countries Flexible, various components Public data accessible, restricted data shared with user as per Data Agreement Limitations: Not an in-depth sectoral assessment Key Informants and Observation, not HH surveys Enumerators and KI not sectoral experts Commonly collected datasets and analysis products Provide examples Start from identifying decisions user have to make and information they need and are missing to make such decisions* Clarify how the information will help decision-making and link each information to its use Jointly identify: which information can come from DTM (reflect on safety, methodology, unit of Measurement / Analysis) what is already available (SDR) or planned in other data collection exercises what should come from other source (due to collection methods, source, timing, …). Phrase questions & answers (consider Field Companion questions) Identify how answers should be analysed (in Analysis Plan). Use mock- up to verify with partners if questions can provide needed information Risk analysis: verify that the exercise and each questions will Do No Harm Finalize analysis plan and share with partners Identify sharing modalities for datasets & descriptive analysis Sign MoUs and Data Sharing agreements for sensitive data & urgent action data Clarify Partners’ lead role, DTM support role & modalities for interpretation Identify modality and timing for feedback and revisions *If revising existing DTM questionnaire, ask partners to evaluate the use of each datasets collected so far, consider deleting those that are not used, and identify additional information needs. Remember that keeping the same questions allows for comparison over time.
