Presentation transcript:

What is GEOSS? Funding for GEOSS? GEOSS users? Registration of data: multiple registration? Automatic population of registries necessary, automatic harvesting across catalogues Testing Business models: how to make GEOSS more sustainable? Advantage for the users? Products for the end user? Identify those, implement them, make them available within 1 year. Go for quick wins

GEOSS as a wikipedia approach? How to make contributing to GEOSS more attractive? How to get the requirements from the end users? (given that we understand who this is) GEOSS as a learning process. Make sure those lessons are learnt and now feed into the further development process What is the real mission of GEOSS? Is GEOSS too many things at once? It should take care of development countries. Bring data and know-how into those areas. Is the systems of systems approach correct? Shall we still allow stovepipe systems? They often know better in their areas what needs to be done. Then trying to connect those stovepipes may lead to something like GEOSS2. Link GEOSS to main stream products to improve visibility? GEOSS on twitter? Shared vision onGEOSS is missing. Is it possible to find a shared vision within this room?

Expectations to high? GEOSS as a platform to bring people/organizations together? Talk to your users, make them part of the development process, make sure you develop for them
