My Literacy Autobiography Missy Callahan

Literacy can be a number of things including books, etexts, online games, audio recordings, etc. I personally think that a physical book is the best literacy. It is so easy to get lost in a story. Literacy helps to enhance your vocabulary which I think is such an important part of education.

Before I went to school and even while I was in elementary school, to stress the importance of learning and literacy, my mom read to me every night before bed so I could familiarize myself with words.

While I was in middle school and in high school, I loved to read While I was in middle school and in high school, I loved to read. It was one of my favorite things to do. I read mandatory Shakespearean plays and chapter books.

Being in college now, the amount of books that I’ve read has widely expanded. I’ve expanded from books to newspapers, journals, online articles, and even scientific studies.

I think literacy is so important for shaping my future students, I even considered becoming an English teacher or a reading teacher. After observing in my kindergarten classroom, my teacher made it clear you can put literacy into any and every lesson you have to teach.
