Science- the study of the natural world that involves making observations and investigations

Observe- to use the five sense

Types of Tools Collecting net- catches small animals Hand lens- makes smaller objects look larger. Camera- records events

Spring Scale- a tool that measures force Force- a push or pull Gravity is a type of pull

Measuring Mass Balance- a tool used to measure mass Mass- the amount of matter in an object Matter- the amount of stuff in an object.

Light Microscope- magnifies things to make them look bigger. Electron Microscope- a microscope scans an object by shooting a beam of electron. Dropper- a tube with a rubber bulb that is squeezed to release liquid Pippette- similar to a dropper but is more exact.

The Metric system The metric system is a unit of measurement that is based on multiples of ten.

The metric system Volume- the amount of space a solid, liquid, or gas takes up. Volume is measured in liters. Volume is measured with a graduated cylinder.

How to measure using a graduated cylinder.
