October October 16-20, 2017 What we’re up to: Classroom Updates Reading: We will be discussing how author’s create imagery in stories and poems. We will be locating words that author’s use, and creating our visualizations. The final major grade for this nine weeks will be the guided reading rubric. Language Arts: We will review nouns and punctuation. We will also be creating a poetry book that will be a major grade when completed. Math: We will be working with open number lines. The test will be October 24. Science: We will be exploring the changing states of matter, including physical changes. We will also begin our unit on magnets. The science test will be October 25. Social Studies: We will be discussing cardinal directions on a map, reviewing grid maps, and identifying continents and oceans on a world map. Our test will be October 25. Notes from the Nurse: Encourage student to wash hands for 20 seconds (sing birthday song twice)                 Before eating                 After using the restroom                 After coughing or sneezing in hands Once a week, take a peek…check your child’s head weekly for nits or lice Field Trip is October 26.
