Presentation transcript:

Online pledge Organisations throughout Devon are invited to sign the Zero Tolerance to Hate Crime (ZTTHC) pledge to support three key principles: Promote an equal society to uphold the right of everyone and we will work to eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and unfair treatment Foster good relations by promoting respect for each other and tackling prejudice Report any incidents of hate that are witnessed within our organisation/premises

ZTTHC campaign aims The aims of the Zero Tolerance to Hate Crime campaign are: To increase awareness and understanding of hate crime and hate incidents To promote ways to report to the police To raise awareness of third party reporting options To increase hate crime reporting which still remains under-reported

What is hate crime? Hate crime Hate incident Any crime perceived to have been motivated by hostility or prejudice based on the victim’s actual or perceived personal identity Hate incident As above but doesn’t reach the criminal threshold Monitored hate crime strands include: Disability Race or ethnicity Religion or belief Sexual orientation Transgender identity Sex or gender

How can you report to the police? There are many ways to contact the police to report a crime or incident: Emergency 999 Non emergency 101 E-mail: 101@dc.police.uk Online: www.devon-cornwall.police.uk/ Deaf/hard of hearing: ** register your phone at www.emergencysms.org.uk Emergency 999 Emergency (minicom/textphone) 18000 Non emergency 67101 Non emergency (minicom/textphone) 18001 101

What is third party reporting? There are a number of reasons why a victim may not want to report a hate crime / hate incident to the police.
