Energy study 400Ton Van Dorn vs. EC390SXII TOSHIBA MACHINE Smart Electric Molding Solutions Energy study 400Ton Van Dorn vs. EC390SXII Energy comparison between a hydraulic 400HT-30 Ton Van Dorn and a Toshiba All-Electric EC390SXII. The test was done using the same tool and material. Cycle time was duplicated. The first wave graph and data (slide3) shows an all hydraulic injection molding machine; it is injecting a 200 gram shot using FR poly pro in a 19 second cycle at 12.25 lbs. per hour. The second graph and data (slide4) shows the same part, material and cycle time running in a Toshiba Machine EC390SXII all-electric injection molding machine at 5 Kilowatts per hour. Both readings include machine and barrel heaters. This power study concludes a 90.6% energy savings using a Toshiba All-Electric Injection Molding Machine over an all hydraulic.

Ideal saved more them just energy. TOSHIBA MACHINE Smart Electric Molding Solutions Ideal saved more them just energy. 1.) Prior to the mold trial/energy study Ideal was unable to run production successfully in any machine under 400 Ton. Do to mold design the only way to get the parts to drop consistently was to slam the ejector bars into the back plate of the mold. Ideal was forced to used a 400 Ton hydraulic not for the clamping forces but for the ejector force. They came to Toshiba wanting to quote a 390 all electric machine. However they didn’t believe a servo ejector systems had enough power to run the mold. Not only did we nock the parts off we did it with only 2 tons of force. We used a EC390SXII to sample and ended up quoting a EC250SXII. 2) Before this energy study Ideal was actively quoting a new central water system. By eliminating hydraulic machines they gained back water cooling capacity. 3)Cycle time was reduced to 17 seconds alone with average start up scrap.
