MD2025 Curriculum Review Background and context Overview of MD2025 Discussion GM

Why are we reviewing our Curriculum? Patient and population needs – chronic conditions and co-morbidity, ageing population, health inequities Models of care are changing – shift towards prevention, team-based care, digital healthcare, primary care Increasing use of technology – doctors of the future will need a new range of additional skills Address feedback from students, graduates and supervisors – opportunities for further improvements to our program GM

Out to 2050, the population > 60 years will grow to over 2 Billion GM GIF – view in presentation mode

Chronic Conditions and Comorbidity 23% of Australians report two or more chronic conditions Risk increases with: Age Lower socioeconomic status Geographical remoteness GM

What is MD2025? A major review of our MD program: Purpose and values; Graduate attributes/outcomes; Principles for learning and teaching, and assessment; Structure and design Ongoing evaluation Innovative Meets changing patient and population needs Builds on our work to continuously improve our program SC

MD2025 Approach Two Stages: Design - through to March 2020 Stakeholder engagement Opportunities for improvement Graduate attributes/outcomes Principles and high-level design Formal notification of intent to AMC Detailed Curriculum Development – March 2020 to program commencement SC

Engaging with our Stakeholders Three Phased Approach Campus and site visits – focus groups, discussion forums, inclusive approach – 18 sessions planned Targeted consultation – to support themes identified during campus and site visits Design workshops – discussions on specific design elements in smaller groups Also…we are encouraging colleagues to: Hold additional workshops and discussions in teams; and Submit outputs or other ideas to the project website: www.medicine.uq.edu.au/md2025 or mailbox (med.md2025@uq.edu.au) KF
