Density Lab Report Final Draft

Title Include date and partners names

Background Info

Objective Explain WHY we are doing this lab. What do you expect to do/learn?

Procedure No separate equipment list needed. Triple beam balance or electronic balance? Not a numbered list…use a paragraph! Find volume of 2 pennies, repeat with 3, 4, all the way to 10… How do you calculate density?

Data Table Include all your collected data. Use units in your column headings!

Graphs Don’t connect the dots! If using Excel, use a “Scatterplot” Include a caption for each graph!

Analysis Describe ALL your data! Outliers Minimum, maximum (Range) Trend: Increasing/decreasing Shape: Line, exponential, parabola… Slope: Steep, flat, changing (how?)

Conclusions Explain WHY you see the trends in your data that you wrote about in the Analysis. Average densities for pre- and post-1982 pennies. Answer the Conclusion Questions in paragraph form.

Final Draft Must be typed! Graphs can be made by hand, neatly. Graph paper will be in the missed assignment folders. Turn in: first draft final draft Rubric (where your grade is) Due: Thursday, November 19.
