Classroom Rules

BEGINNING OF CLASS OK NOT OK Enter classroom quietly after the preceding class has exited Get out materials/homework Sharpening pencil with Voice Level 0 and return to seat Read agenda Begin bell work activity Hand admit slips to teacher Raise hand when attention signal is given NOT OK Hanging out in hall or edges of room Working on homework that has been previously assigned Talking Disturbing your neighbor Going back to locker for materials Talking while attention signal is given Talking while announcements are on Asking the teacher questions at the beginning of class instead of waiting to see if they are answered at the start.

END OF CLASS OK Clean up work area/organize materials at Voice Level 0 Throw away objects and return to your assigned seat Remain in your seat until dismissed by teacher not the bell Keep Working until the bell rings! Be polite! HANDING-In Work OK NOT OK Voice Level 0 Raising hand for help Place name, date, and period in upper right hand corner on all work Pass papers up the rows to the front of the room. Arrange all papers to the same way Wait patiently for papers to be collected by teacher NOT OK Not turning in an assignment when due Turning in an assignment without your name, date, & period in the upper right hand corner of your paper Turning in late assignment, especially past the 3 day deadline Snatching, throwing, or using paper to bother others

TEST/QUIZ OK Work on test during allotted time (must finish during 40 min. class) Eyes on own paper Sharpen pencil before Work to the best of your ability Raise hand with question and continue working Voice Level 0 NOT OK Talking Getting out materials not approved by teacher Looking at another student’s test Having head down, slouching or sleeping Being out of seat unless teacher directed

PHONE RINGS or Called into Hallway OK Voice Level 0 Continue working if possible, if not, sit quietly Sharpen pencil (one at a time) If you are in groups you may continue to talk at Level 1 NOT OK Disturbing others Talking above level 1 Yelling out Distracting the teacher Getting out of seat, except to sharpen pencil Wasting time

TRAVELING AS GROUP/CLASS OK Voice Level 0 at all times Line up single file when the teacher directs you Walk on right side of hallway (along the blue tiles) Keep hands to self Stop at the door of destination or wait for permission to enter Stop at corners when directed NOT OK Stepping away from right side of hallway Touching your neighbors Talking Lining up without the teacher directing you Touching lockers or knocking on doors Peeking in windows Using the water fountains

COMPUTER LAB OK Level 0 while walking to lab and while teacher provides instructions Level 1, with relevance of topic with neighbor Staying on task Printing only one copy with permission Cleaning up area and logging off NOT OK Talking without working Level 1 with no relevance Wandering around and not on task Printing numerous copies Leaving account open, locked, or not cleaning up

Other Points Remember no cell phones in class If you want to chew gum keep it in your mouth and throw it and the wrapper in the trash can Respect one another You have a conduct grade that does effect your honor roll status

NOT OK Walking down the middle of the hallway. Talking above a Level 2. Horseplay. Walking around. Leaving the cafeteria without permission.

7:10 Entering From the Bus OK NOT OK Walking along the hallway single file on the right side of hall. Talking with Level 2 voice. Going to the cafeteria, library, or gym. Using the restroom as you pass by. Lining up for attendance slips as you pass cafeteria. Deliver big bags to the back of the library; deliver instruments to front door of the Band Room. NOT OK Walking down the middle of the hallway. Talking above a Level 2. Horseplay. Going back to the restroom once you are past them.

Morning Cafeteria OK NOT OK Talking above a Level 2. Talking with a Level 2 voice. Immediately lining up in line to buy food or drink. Seated immediately after buying food. Clean table when finished and throw away any trash. Leaving when finished eating and going to the gym or cafeteria. NOT OK Talking above a Level 2. Leaving a mess on your table. Visiting different tables.

Morning Library OK NOT OK Talking at a Level 0. Check out books. Study, read, or complete homework. Leave once finished with work or checking out books and go to the gym. NOT OK Leaving and coming back. Talking at Level 1 or higher.

Morning Gym OK NOT OK Moving around once seated. Sitting with your grade. Talking with a Level 2 voice. Be dismissed by row in a single file line for each grade. NOT OK Moving around once seated. Horseplay. Going back to the restroom, cafeteria, or library once you are in the gym.

7:35 AM Dismissal to Homeroom OK Walking along the hallway in a single file line on the right side of the hallway. Talking with a Level 2 voice. Going straight to homeroom. If coming in from bus, quickly eat breakfast at Level 0. After 7:40, bus students should get their breakfast and take it to their homerooms. NOT OK Walking down middle of the hallway. Talking above Level 2. Horseplay. Going to locker or bathroom. Socializing in the halls or restroom.

SSR OK NOT OK No talking (Voice Level 0). Reading along with class. Eat cafeteria food if on a late bus. Raising your hand if you need help. NOT OK Getting out of seat. Bringing in snacks or fast food to eat. Working on homework.

Restroom Expectations OK Going to restroom when classes change. Talking at a Level 2 in restroom. Conducting business quickly. Leaving the restroom clean. NOT OK Talking above a Level 2. Horseplay. Wasting time. Leaving a mess. Writing on walls.

Lunch Behavior OK NOT OK Cutting in line. Talking at a Level 2. Immediately get in line for food then sit down. If not eating café food, then sit down at your table. Stand in a single file line. Get seconds when you want them. Sit in designated area with class. Return tray, dump trash in trash cans, and put tray in appropriate area. Return silverware to water bucket then sit in original seat. NOT OK Cutting in line. Leaving the café without permission. Visiting with other tables. Yelling across the café. Throwing food. Horseplay in the lunch line. Walking around. Leaving an area messy. Going to locker.

Afternoon Break OK NOT OK Buying a drink or treat from the concession stand. Talking at a Level 2. Using the restroom in the lobby. Walking on the right side of the hall to and from break. Going to and from break, using appropriate hall. NOT OK Taking your food beyond the cafeteria or lobby. Buying from a vending machine. Disturbing classes that are in session. Throwing trash on floor. Socializing in the restroom. Roaming the halls. Moving around the cafeteria once seated.

Assembly OK NOT OK Getting up and moving around. Entering and exiting using a double single file line. Talking at a Level 1 until you observe the attention signal. Talking at a Level 0 during the assembly. Sitting with your teacher from the class you came with. NOT OK Getting up and moving around. Bothering other students. Sitting with another class.

Afternoon Dismissal OK NOT OK Talking at a Level 1. Sitting in your chair until your dismissal. Walking on the right side of the hall. Leaving with appropriate dismissal group. Going to your locker after dismissed. Quickly going to the restroom after dismissal. Car riders exit the building through the lobby door. NOT OK Leaving the room without permission. Leaving during the wrong dismissal. Roaming the halls. Running in halls. Bothering others. Jumping the stairs.
