A, Bcl-2–expressing MCF-7 cells (MCF-7-Bcl-2) and appropriate vector-transfected control cells (MCF-7-Vector) were treated with indicated concentrations of BAMLET for 24 h (first 1 h without serum). The viability of the cells was assessed by the MTT assay and the values represent means of three independent triplicate measurements ± SD. The differences between the two cell lines were not significant (P > 0.05, Student's t-test). B, caspase-3–expressing MCF-7 cells (MCF-7-Casp3) and appropriate vector-transfected control cells (MCF-7-Vector) were treated with indicated concentrations of BAMLET for 24 h (first 1 h without serum) before the analysis of caspase-3/7 activity (DEVDase) in the cell lysates.
