Aerodrome Certification – ICAO Annex 14 As part of the certification process, States shall ensure that an aerodrome manual which will include all pertinent information on the aerodrome site, facilities, services, equipment, operating procedures, organization and management including a safety management system, is submitted by the applicant for approval/acceptance prior to granting the aerodrome certificate.

Aerodrome Certification An aerodrome certification can only be granted, providing that the CAA are satisfied of the following: Staff has the necessary competence and experience The aerodrome manual has been submitted and contains all the relevant information The aerodrome facilities are all in accordance with the standards and recommended practices specified by the state The standards operation procedures (SOP’s) make satisfactory provision for the safety of aircraft operations An acceptable safety management system is in place

Aerodrome Certification – Aerodrome Manual A fundamental requirement of the certification process A reference document for all operators at an aerodrome regarding policies, facilities and procedures It also enables the CAA to assess suitability of the aerodrome operator to gain and maintain its certificate A living document: It should be regularly reviewed and amended to accurately reflect the current operation at the aerodrome

Aerodrome Certification – Aerodrome Manual Content Part 1 – General Part 2 – Particulars of the Aerodrome Part 3 – Reporting to AIS Part 4 – Aerodrome Operating Procedures and Safety Measures Part 5 – Aerodrome Administration and Safety Management Systems However some aerodromes have divided the document into further chapters (e.g. SMS)
