Presentation transcript:

I will be able to understand matter and how temperature effects it.

Matter Matter has mass and volume. It can not be created of destroyed. Mass is the amount of matter(stuff) in an object. Volume is the amount of space an object takes up. Look at the different balls. Which one has more mass? Which one has less mass? Which two balls have almost the same volume?

Which tool? What tools is used to measure mass? Which tools measure volume?

Properties continued. Temperature- measures the energy of motion of the particles in matter. Density- Float or sink.

States of Matter Liquid- a substance that has a definite volume but no definite shape. Gas- a substance that has not definite volume or shape. Solid- a substance with a definite shape and volume.

How temperature changes When matter releases or takes in energy the temperature changes. http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/science /matter/solids-liquids-gases.htm

Dissolving Hot liquids have faster dissolving rates Cold liquids have colder dissolving rates
