Americans suffered over 33 000 dead and 100 000 wounded soldiers. Over a million Korean and Chinese soldiers died and as many as 2 million Korean civilians. 3.7 million children lost their parents. The border was renegotiated to the 38th parallel. The sentiment in the USA was that containment was successful.
