WHAT CAN YOU DO TO MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT IS READY FOR 3RD GRADE? STUDENT IS READING ON A 28NF BY THE END OF 2ND GRADE. STUDENT CAN READ ALL 2ND GRADE SIGHT WORDS. STUDENT CAN READ FOR 30 MINUTES UNINTERRUPTED. STUDENT MEMORIZES MATH FACTS UP TO 20 (Dreambox is a great math resource) STUDENT WRITES LEGIBLY IN COMPLETE SENTENCES. RESPONSIBILITY. ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS.

LET’S FINISH STRONG It’s easy for students to get “spring fever” this time of year. It’s important to remind them we still have a lot of learning to do that is preparing them for 3rd grade. Please partner with us in reminding your student to: •Be diligent with completing and turning work in. •Be respectful to their classmates.

REMINDERS •Tomorrow is the last day students can pick up a Big Kahuna Chocolate kit. •All money for kits is due this Friday, February 16th ($60 a kit). •No school for students on Monday, February 19th. •Valentine party is tomorrow from 1:30-2:30. I will have a sign out sheet. •Students may wear a red, pink, white, or valentine shirt and have a FREE jeans day!

School–Parent Compact Life School Red Oak Elementary and our parents agree that this compact outlines how we will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and how we together will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards. Please read over, sign, and leave with me before you leave. Please make sure to print your student’s name on the student signature line.

Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email or schedule a conference. Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education. shanna.miller@lifeschools.net
