UNIT 1: UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT OF GREEN ECONOMY This unit describes: Some concepts: Green economy, Basics, Justification and Benefits / Values Components, Fundamental Challenges and Interventions in a green economy Objectives: At the end of this unit, it is expected that participants will: Improve understanding on the concept of green economy, its justification, benefits and/or opportunities thereto. Improve understanding of the fundamental challenges and expected interventions in the green economy pathway Improve our understanding of the role of public and private sector in a green economy

PROGRAMME 2: WAGEDI-GUU Green Business School Weekend Training/ Capacity Building Programmes (Fridays and Saturdays) Target Audience: Professionals in both Public and Private sectors of the economy Objectives of the Training Modules The students will be able to realize the full potentials/benefits of green economy, research priority setting and development of business modules. An established demand driven data that will inform decision making and support development planning especially for the critical sectors that drives a green economy; Build capacities and knowledge of green economy stakeholders to collect and utilize high quality, and demand driven data for planning and decision making in the identified thematic areas;

Build capacities and knowledge on how to develop business modules in a green economy; Mainstream green economy issues in policy dialogue. Units of the Training Modules In total the training modules have seven ( 7) units UNIT 1: Understanding a Green Economy: Objectives, Benefits, Components, Challenge, Interventions and Public and Private Sector in a Green Economy; UNIT 2. Foresight Studies and Thematic Areas of Green Economics Study; UNIT 3. Link between a Green Economy and Sustainable development; UNIT 4. Drivers of a Green Economy; UNIT 5. Sustainable Banking and Natural Capital Accounting a Green Economy: The Green Bond Case Study UNIT 6: Green House Gases(GHGs) Inventory, Measurement, Reporting and Verification(MRV) Systems and Nationally Determined Contributions(NDCs) UNIT 7: Green Business Case Studies and Windows of Funding (Climate Finance) in a Green Economy
