Presentation transcript:

Before learners come to class they need to do ONE online test to determine their health. They can go to either: https://www.healthylifeproject.com.au/litetest/ OR https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/tests/health/healthy-lifestyle-test They need to bring the results to class. If they dont have access to the test, you could include it in the lesson, just adjust time frame accordingly. Lesson 4

Lets quickly revise on what we have covered so far... A life style disease is an illness that exists because of human factors that include the way we live. These diseases include Cancer, High Blood Pressure, Heart Disease, HIV and STIs and TB. Poverty and Gender imbalances increase the risk of lifestyle diseases. Certain lifestyle choices contribute to lifestyle diseases. These include things like substance abuse, unsafe sex and others. Preventative measures, treatment and care must be considered to minimise the risk of lifestyle diseases. Revise the points covered in the first three lessons.

Remember the diseases we covered last lesson Remember the diseases we covered last lesson? Did you notice how important exercise and eating nutritional meals was? Ask learners if they knew that in 20 years time they would be struggling wth one of these diseases that could be stopped now would they not make an effort to find a way.

We have discussed prevention by not getting invloved in drugs and alcohol abuse and abstaining from unsafe sex. Now let us look at how to change habits around eating and exercise. No more than 5min for slide 45,46,47

You were required to do an on line health assessment before the lesson You were required to do an on line health assessment before the lesson. Lets take a look at you results: If your learners have not done the test, alow 10min to do the online test here. They will need have access to internet. Tell them to write out what their results show.

Take a moment to help them understand their results Take a moment to help them understand their results. Give them a moment to chat about their results in their groups. Ask them if they are happy with their BODY AGE? Can they see the need to make changes now before it is too late? 20min till here. This should include time for the test. If the test is done, continue and give more time in later discussions or activites.

If you would like to do more research on making the correct nutritional choices, why not complete a FREE online course www.futurelearn.com/courses/collections/healthy-lifestyle Allow learners a few moments to write out the online address. You could even put a challenge out to them that the first one to finish a course and bring you evidence (screenprint of completion certificate) you would have a class award. The next slide shows some of the courses available...
